Bronwyn on Duke

Last weekend I took the family out to my brother's. My daughters have riden horses before but not a lot and not without someone holding the lead or riding in a corral.
This time they were taking control!
I saddled up the horse that I'll be riding in the posse hunt and I saddled up Duke for the girls to take turns.
Duke is larger than your average horse. He's a draft horse. he is also very easy to ride. That is as long as there is no Harley Davidson trying to pass you on some deserted country road.
Sinead, my oldest daughter, and I were the first to ride. We went out on the road and soon met with the motorcycle. Sinead, being inexperienced and not very strong in the arms, was soon being quickly carried back towards the barn. I tried to tell her to bring Duke to the side of the road so the bike could get by, but I think she turned him a little to much and he turned around. he then started trotting back home. Well Sinead was startled and started screaming as Duke picked up speed and was soon in a gallop.
Then it was dad to the rescue. I had to race up to Duke before he made it the half mile back to the yard. I stopped Duke and although Sinead was shaken, she did get back on after she calmed down a bit.

I don't have pictures of Sinead because my camera was being used to record my wife and her friend shearing some sheep. They plan to clean, die, spin and knit wool that they get right off the sheep. Good Luck!
